Today P1-3 had a great morning with Tanya from Action Cancer. We helped save 4 characters who were making very bad lifestyle choices! They had a fun time playing games and using props.
Remember to try really hard to get your FIVE pieces of fruit or vegetables in each day!
Today we put our team work and engineering skills to the test and made a maze out of Lego that water could run through. Each team worked exceptionally well together to create a different maze. 2 out of 3 were successful in directing the water.
Well done P1-P3 for great team work!
What a day in the little classroom!!
We started our day finding out how Polar Bears keep themselves warm in the Arctic. We carried out an experiment which involved icy cold water and blubber!
Josh brought in some frog spawn for show and tell which we are looking forward to watching growing over the next few weeks.
And to top it all off we have a visit from a little lamb. Finlay and Grace got their mummy to bring up a little lamb from their Granda's farm.
What a busy but exciting day in Carnalbanagh!
Tomorrow we are taking part in the 2019 Big Bird Watch. In preparation, today we made some bird feeders and put these up around our school and sports field. We also tried our hands at drawing some birds using instructions. We think we have done really well!!
Today we were using some of the fantastic Numicon resources we have in school to help P2 in building up number bonds and facts. We explored lots of different ways of making 6. We made lots of different adding and taking away sums. It was great fun!
P3 were playing against each other in a game of making the biggest number possible. Things got competitive as they battled to make the biggest from the cards they had chosen.
P1-P3 have been very busy during Play Based Learning this week. We have created our own 'Terrible Creatures' like in the Gruffalo. We have been using playdough to add on different parts to the Gruffalo pictures. We also had the task of trying to build a bridge to cross our water tray to let 'The Smartest Giant in Town' cross without getting his feet wet. P3 particularly enjoyed navigating the Beebot around the farm like in 'What the Ladybird heard.'
We have been using our author of the term 'Julia Donaldson' as our starting point for Play as we love her books so much!
